Sri M.C. Shivananda Sarma was the visionary who laid the foundation of the Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Institutions. Born into a peasant family in T. Narasipura, Karnataka, in 1911, he was an ardent social worker from his childhood. Inspired by the likes of Shri Madan Mohana Malaviya and Shri Rabindranath Tagore, he started the first college with just six students on roll, on the auspicious day of Vijayadashami in 1940.

His motto of social service through education led to the formation of the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust, under whose banner today there are twenty reputed institutions from nursery to post-graduation levels. Shivananda Sharma worked with unwavering commitment, zeal and dedication, as its founder secretary, till his demise in 1969.

All the current fame of the RV institutions owes a great debt to these initial efforts and tribulations.
